High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
At Deepwater Public School, high potential and gifted education (HPGE) is integrated into our daily classroom learning experiences through differentiated activities aimed to support and extend students with exceptional abilities.
Teachers identify students learning needs and apply evidence-based teaching strategies to extend and challenge their abilities. High potential or giftedness can be identified across all learning domains including Intellectual, Creative, Physical and Social-Emotional.
We create inclusive and nurturing classroom environments where all students are encouraged to challenge themselves and work towards individualised learning goals. Students are offered opportunities to take on leadership roles in safe environments that encourage confidence, risk-taking and perseverance.
At Deepwater Public School, we offer a variety of opportunities to support and enrich our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) students across multiple learning domains.
Students can participate in STEM challenges, Art workshops, Performing Arts showcase, Wellbeing programs, Student Leadership roles and peer mentoring, Sporting skill development programs and whole-school inclusion and wellbeing initiatives.
Our students have opportunities to participate in a number of statewide programs to enrich their potential.
Some of these include The Premier reading challenge, The Premier sporting challenge, Community performing Arts Eisteddfods, Writing competitions and representative sport competitions.
At Deepwater Public School teachers and support staff are committed to providing rich experiences to empower gifted learners to thrive across all learning domains both in our school community and beyond.
